The Marion City Council has approved a plan to repair and improve the existing limestone wall located along the south edge of Marion City Park. The plan includes rebuilding all three sets of stairs, providing a new handicap accessible entrance to the park, and repairing the condition of the wall utilizing as much of the existing material as possible. Several trees along the south edge of the park will also be removed as part of the project. The tree removal will allow the depot to become more visible from 6th Avenue and serve as a centerpiece to the streetscape project. Additional light will also allow grass and other plantings to grow more effectively in this area. New trees will be strategically planted in this area of the park following construction.
